Mashed potatoes are the easiest and (most delicious) side dish. The key is to use this masher. Mine are a bit grainy but you can run them through the same masher again for a smoother consistency. You can add more butter too if you like!
Simple Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes are the easiest and (most delicious) side dish. The key is to use this masher. Mine are a bit grainy but you can run them through the same masher again for a smoother consistency. You can always add more butter too, but it’s January and we’re dealing with the consequences of December.
Ingredients
- 1 kg potatoes
- 250 ml 1 cup full fat milk
- 50 g butter
- 1 tsp salt
- Freshly grated nutmeg
Instructions
- Boil and peel the potatoes. While still hot, mash with a fork or a potato masher. Then add the milk, butter, salt and nutmeg.
- Mix on top of the stove with a gentle flame until they are silky and all the butter has melted. You can add black or white pepper but my kids prefer it this way.
