Description
Probably one of my favorite breads of all time, garlic naan.

Garlic Naan
Ingredients
To begin:
- 2 tbsp instant yeast
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 cup warm water
To add after blooming:
- 1/3 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp yogurt
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, grated or smashed
- 425 g flour (3 and 1/3 cups) + extra 2-3 tbsp
Nigella seeds before baking
To spread:
- 3 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp minced garlic
- Coriander, optional
Instructions
- in the bowl of your mixer add the yeast, salt, sugar and warm water. Wait 10 minutes for the yeast to bloom.
- add the warm milk, yogurt, olive oil, mashed garlic and flour.
- knead on medium high with a dough hook for about 10 mins. Add the 2-3 tbsp towards the end so the dough isn’t sticky, if needed.
- cover and let it rest for 90 mins or until it’s huge.
- oil your clean surface and your hands, cut and shape into 8 balls.
- rest for 15 minutes.
- pull and tug to shape, try not to deflate the bubbles, sprinkle with nigella seeds if you like (I love).
- cook on a very hot pan, flipping only once.
- brush with the butter garlic mix and sprinkle coriander leaves. Enjoy warm! Sahtein 😍
Notes
if you want regular naan, skip the garlic in the dough and don’t brush any in the end.
